But sometimes it's good to have co-workers and friends. Doing freelance work could cause you a lame social life while being employed could get you to meet some friends and also learn few knowledge you can't get just by researching or reading articles... And now that I've switched to working from home, I really miss interacting with people sometimes. My advice to others in the same situation would be - take a break once in a while. Get out and about and speak to anyone you meet. You'll have a whole heap more to write about when you return. I’ve been self employed for a few years. I am also getting freelance work in film (which will hopefully be my career in the future) and I am also in college as a film major. I have found that the freelance work, while harder to come by is much easier to do while keeping up with my school work and classes. I have also found that the 9-5 shift kills me when the 5am to midnight shifts i get on set are much more enjoyable. I am currently employed at your average 9-5 working in IT for a school district.
